14th Century Gown

This is my new 14th century gown. It looks a little sad without any accessories or overgown doesn’t it?? I have never done a lot of Medieval costuming before. I think it would have been fun except the pattern I used took a lot of fitting. It was HUGE! I probably took 8 inches out total. However I really like the final fit. The fabric unfortunately faded after I washed it and it’s incredibly itchy. I made the dress for a photo shoot I’m doing this summer with my friend Xenia. However it looks like I might get to go to a reenacting event in August with my Dad. So it will get to be worn more than once. I ordered a beautiful leather studded belt to wear with it for the photo shoot. I’m hoping that before the reenacting event I can make a pouch and veil to wear with it as well. The part that took the longest was sewing over the grommets. But I like the finished look so I don’t mind.

Second Socks!!!

Oh ya! Second pair of knitted socks down. These pair were even knit in sock yarn. Which for those who don’t knit or crochet is pretty thin stuff. I keep thinking of these as my stormy ocean socks. The yarn has green, blue, black, brown and grey all mixed together. It reminds me of the ocean which is many colors especially during stormy weather. They have a really simple lace design. Honestly the fun part of making these was watching the colors change as I worked.

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber’d here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
if you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to ‘scape the serpent’s tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends. ~Puck

Can you guess my favorite flavor of ice cream?? I’m so glad to finish this afghan. I started it years ago. It’s just a simple granny square. It’s not very big, cause I plan to use it as a chair blanket or for sitting outside in the grass. I love the colors, so different from everything else I make.

This is probably my favorite song. So I included a link to the whole thing.
