So here are some photos of our little gardens progress. The plants seem to be growing pretty well. One of the rose bushes has started blooming and smells wonderful. You can see the new growth on the second rose bush. Even the honeysuckle has gained a few inches of growth.

Also I’ve started to fall in love with canning. There is something just very fascinating and fun about it. It is great to take seasonal food and be able to put them aside for later on in the year. Also I like it when I can make my own food rather than buy it. We live in a place with a great farmer’s market and can get some really nice things. I’ve made Strawberry-Rhubarb jam, Strawberry Syrup, Rhubarb Syrup, Sweet Pear and Cherries and some Cherry butter. Hopefully I can tackle some veggies soon.

Due to the generosity of my friend Xenia I was able to get a new camera. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! It feels so good to have a good camera again. So expect lots of pictures and maybe some art photography again. So of course I had to try out my camera. I took picture of the little patio garden we have going right now. We have roses, a honeysuckle, a lavender, and a thorn less raspberry. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix L105. I also took a few pictures of the view from our patio. I love sitting outside in the good weather and watching the ships.

Veggies!

I went on a trip for a few days (pictures to follow in a few days) and while I was away my garden exploded! So I just have a lot of pictures to show. Let me explain this first picture, I pulled this onion because I thought it was dead and wasn’t actually of any size.

The next three pictures are all from the same bed. First is my bed that has both tomatoes and cucumbers. I swear it’s not just a jungle. The second and third are the two types of cucumbers I have growing. Which by the way, they weren’t there when I left a couple of days  ago.

Next I have the bed that holds my onions and daikon radishes. Then a close up of my peas, which are almost to the end of their life.

This last picture is my favorite. It’s my first baby watermelon. Isn’t he so CUTE!

Big Update

Hey Everyone! If you didn’t already know I have moved, which is why I seem to have disappeared off the face of the Earth. I was offered a job and obviously took it. I am pretty much all moved and I start this next week. I did find time last week to do some things other than moving. I made a sock creature. He was from a kit my Mom got me. I thought he turned out pretty cute. He is completely hand sewn. He took me a couple of days cause of that.

I also got all my vegetables planted. YA! So I’m gonna show you all those pictures. The first bed is beets and watermelon radishes. The radishes should be done in time for me to plant a late daikon harvest.

This next bed is tomatoes and cucumbers. I have a cherry and early girl tomato. I also have two types of cucumbers, lemon and normal.

The third bed is carrots and onions. The carrots are half longs. I have white and spanish red onions.

I have other vegetables as well. I am helping my Mom grow saffron crocuses. I have 6 lavender bushes I harvest. I have peas growing along the fence. I’m also trying to grow acorn squash and icebox watermelons. Hopefully in the next two couple weeks I can get back to crafting and all those kind of things.
